Community Based Mentoring
This is our traditional one-to-one mentoring option where children and volunteer mentors meet weekly throughout Sheboygan County and spend time together engaged in activities they choose based on mutual interest.
Big Brothers or Big Sisters meet with a child or “Little” three to four times a month to enjoy fun activities together. Some mentoring matches meet on weekends, while others get together in the evenings.
Each match is unique and develops a schedule that works for them. Match outings are flexible and easy to plan. Activities can include playing sports, going over schoolwork, visiting a museum, volunteering together, or just hanging out. Big and Littles can participate in various events planned by Big Brothers Big Sisters throughout the year too!
Bigs and Littles are matched based on similar interests, personalities, experiences, and distance from each other. To be a Big, you must be age 16 or older.
- A Big Brother is matched with a Little Brother 7-12 years old.
- A Big Sister can be matched with either a Little Sister 5-12 years old, or a Little Brother 7-12.
Through Community-based mentoring, a child experiences a wide range of new, fun, and educational activities and gains a new perspective of the world.
